about us
find out our projectOur planet is experiencing some radical changes, and humankind is at the very core of them. Yet, social media play a key role in the organisation of social structures. Our project is very ambitious, but necessary, and we believe in it.
We want to create an online platform, a virtual space, entirely dedicated to human experiences all around the world, concerning themes as climate change, future and social equality. Social Hike starts as a video, photo and reportage blog, but the real intention is to create an autonomous virtual community in which knowledge is produced and shared through media content, such as photos, videos, articles, art performances, and so forth.
We imagine a multidisciplinary configuration, where every single person who becomes part of the community is committed to implement it and enlarge it.
The project is set to start with the publication of a series of episodes which will concern specific socio-economic themes. The episodes’ content will include short interviews, reports, as well as personal thoughts and other various adds. The idea is to collect witnesses from all around the world, that can describe the impact of globalization, capitalism and climate change on people, starting from grassroots.
We intend to involve academic institutions and foundations, in order to create no-profit co-partnerships and collaborations. We are keen to give space to people with new innovative ideas all around the world. We long for a global interconnection that enhances and protects local and peculiar realities.
Our values
First and foremost, we believe that gender, ethnicity, religion, language, and class are categories that should not influence people’s freedom and the quality of life any longer. With this respect, we recognize that current social structures are yet still heavily based on those categories. We also believe that the social structures that perpetuate the existence of a discriminating culture towards non-white non-cis and poor individuals must be refused as well as that any other form of racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia and moral panic must be opposed.
We celebrate diversity and believe that every person is first and foremost a human being, whose fundamental right must be protected and guaranteed. To us what counts the most is working together, sharing knowledge and experiences, with a respectful and open mindset. We aim to include the voices and the opinions of the people we encounter along the construction and implementation of our project in the project itself.
Therefore, we promote values of:
democracy
equity
sustainability
accessibility
Our goals
Social Hike seeks to share stories and knowledge from all around the world, in order to make people aware that, we do not need to concentrate anymore on social constructs as gender, class and ethnicity. Our main goals are:
- to raise awareness about the above mentioned topics, being prone to expand our subjects of interest and giving space to new ideas and suggestions
- to share knowledge and local practices for a global sustainable future, strategically using instruments and tools we have access to, such as internet and social media
- to improve communication and social networking interconnections
- to create our own no-profit online platform, which will be result of people’s ideas, needs and willingness to help others
How?
- reaching people, offering SocialHike as a virtual-community space to reflect over social issues and on how to re-think social structures
- writing articles and organizing surveys
- promoting collaborative contents based on the principle of verifiability
- funding real spaces where to interact, meet and work together
all this can happen only if you
take part
in it!

Who we are
Our team is little but it is constantly growing up. We think that reimagining how people are connected and where the focuses are set on could help to build a better collective vision and a more efficient strategy in order to deal with the most important decisions our society has to make. Indeed, we want to design a scalable and non-sector specific organizational chart that aims to develop a ‘glocal’ community that is meant to not to be based on a ‘core’. Instead, we want our project to be open minded, shared and extensible, meaning that there’s no hierarchical approach in what people do, think and act to uphold the cause.

Born in 1998, from Fabriano (AN, Italy). I attended State Industrial and Technical Institute focusing on IT and telecommunications. Then, I decided to follow this path and now I’m attending the last year of a Bachelor in Computer Engineering at Alma Mater Studiorum (UNIBO), Bologna. I always pursued solidarity values and my purpose is to take advantage of technology in order to improve our lifestyle and our sensibility regarding social and environmental topics. I have an extensive knowledge of project management, digital media manipulation and social media management.
I love photography and sharing my shots because it is my way to tell stories.
Currently I’m working for Search On Media Group (Bologna), as a Web Developer
